Fast zombies, they can run extremely fast, being immune to pain, they can catch you off-guard, severly reducing your chances of escape as you would need to prepare your path of escape.

Slow, undead zombies for me.

The fact that they are ever-present is the thing. Infected are only human, they can't keep on the move for days, weeks, months or even years. Undead can. That mob of fifty that started after you?

Two months later they'll still be coming... With a few thousand friends.

Sure, you can outrun them... Until you come to the next group of them... And the next... And the next...

With infected a single person with half-decent aim and a handgun can kill a small group but when there's a group of undead zombies shambling slowly towards you and your nerves are on edge are you going to be able to make that headshot every time?

You'd want to hope so because there are a lot of them to get through.

The problem with slow zombies is that they won't ALL be there coming after you at the same time, so that building you thought was safe to hide in because 'all' the zombies had already been lured out might have one or two really, really unpleasant surprises still left inside.

The thing about fast ones is that you could probably bait them out of some location and be reasonably assured that they've all vacated the immediate area.

With fast zombies you don't need to shoot the head though, S0lder.

And I know I'd be more unnerved by a group of zombies coming at me that were just cruising merrily along as I shot at them rather than a group of zombies running at me that are going to fall as my bullets hit them in the torso.

Slow, because in almost 80% of zombie movies and games fast zombies have always been loners or in small groups so with so few to take down anyone with a loaded shotgun and average aim can take down a group of quickies, but slow zombies are usually amassed in large groups that usually take loads of ammo to take them down and what happens when you do run out of ammo, and dont say "bonk them on the head" because in most movies the slow zombies are usually pretty strong and can take a punch...

also, in a majority of games and movies the quicker zombies are usually frail

though fast zombies have their advantages over slow zombies since they can get to a person faster, but if a group of people are barricaded in a house, whats a zombie thats too frail to break down a door gonna do?

also heres a tip to take down fast zombies...take a hedge trimmer or sword or large knife of some sort and hold it straight out(though close to you) in front of you and wait till they lunge at you and BAM you have one (probably dead) fast zombie...slow zombies will just bite you once they get to the end of the sword if you do that :\

Yea, but isn't it scarier that they running or hunting for you?
It depends if they come in Groups or Alone

Because Slow Zombie are indeed Stronger but you got more time to aim and shoot ect IMO

But what happens if your nerves are shot and you cant hold that gun steady at all, cause i doubt anyone will be calm during the zombie apocalypse so you probably wont be the best of shots, but also i mean even if you kill 1 zombie per bullet from that Beretta 92fs you might have...thats 12 zombies dead but what happens if theres more(when it comes to slow zombies there usually are)...

also slow zombie have that ever present MOAN that sends chills down your spine...fast zombies usually just scream or grunt

Fast - there is nothing worse than being over whelmed before you can react!

ask yourself this...how many times in movies or games have there ever been overwhelming amounts of fast zombies(28 days later doesnt count since they are not zombies just people with a virus), its always the slow zombies that overwhelm barricades and houses

Then L4d doesn't have zombies it's a virus.

Let's not start the infected/zombies name debate here. For the purpose of this let's say infected are zombies. OK?

I still say slow, I mean the way we see slow zombies is in a massive mob of them and unless you're Stallone then you aren't going to have enough ammo on you to take down that many before they get to you.

I think being overwhelmed and beaten to death would be a lot better than torn apart and eaten slowly as more and more hands and mouths slowly engulf your body in a tide of undead.

I often thought that parts of HL2 had overwhelming amounts of fast zombies, what about the part where you are waiting for the cable cart?

When I say overwhelming I don't mean huge hordes of ridiculous numbers of zombies have to be coming at you - I mean enough have to be coming at you to make you get in a panic and generally they get to you before you can kill them.

Five fast zombies would be nearly more overwhelming than 20 slow zombies in my opinion.

It really depends on the environment.

The rooftop in Ravenholme that you used as an example is a really bad example to have used. If you play that rooftop well not a single zombie will reach the roof

Only time zombies ever became overwhelming for me in HL the dark garage in Ep1 while you wait for the elevator... Damn that level.

Well yes indeed - considering you can just shoot them coming up the pipes. I put that down to bad level design on Valve's part in that area of the level though. It had the potential to be far more exciting.
