How It All Began

This tale is not tall and not meant for those who have a weak heart. All that happened in this story are true account of my career as a military scientist.

Human subject 3059 b. died on the table after being injected with serum 6059 d.
Another failure, I knew from the beginning this super soldier program would never work! Why did I ever take this job? I loosened the restraints on the patient. Then the patient jumped up so quickly I couldn’t react. He bit me just as the guard shot him in the chest, he stumbled backwards and then I ordered the guard to shoot him in the head. 1 shot later and I had another dead subject.

I quickly ran over to the microscope took a drop of my blood from the wound and examined it. The blood was teeming with virus Z! I ran over to my desk took a larger sample of my blood then put gauze over the wound. 1 thing I had discovered while creating virus z is that a small portion of the human population has an antibody in their blood that will quickly kill the virus. I can proudly say I am 1 of the select few who have this antibody.

The worst part about my job is that all my human patients didn’t volunteer for this; they were all taken from death row. We told everyone they had been executed when the truth was far worse, if they knew what was going on just outside the city limits of Las Vegas the UN would shut us down for sure. This scientific advancement would be seen as a type of torture and my colleagues and I would be sent to prison for a long time. At least these pieces of **** are helping their country before they die.

It was getting late so I decided to head home, I said “goodbye” to Bianca who is the night shift guard. I started driving home when I heard gunfire coming from the base, I turned around took out my pistol and headed back.

When I reached the base I saw Bianca on the ground with a large cat ripping in to her jugular. I shot the cat 3 times then shot Bianca. I looked around to see all different types of animals and some of my own test human subjects that had survived, along with soldiers and some of my colleagues. It had begun.

I took out my cell phone and called Washington, it took half an hour but I got a hold of the president and told him to quarantine the state of Nevada. He started laughing. I told him to turn on his TV and go to the news channel. He did so and saw the mayhem in Las Vegas as the streets were being filled with infected and then the reporter and camera man were killed. He hung up on me, but I knew he had taken the seriously. I also knew I had only a matter of hours to get out of the state or else id be doomed. I headed towards the air field because I knew they always kept a mig 19 around here somewhere.

After finding it and prepping it for take off, I thought to myself if I were the president I wanted to make sure a secret virus made in area 51 a base that I had said a thousand times didn’t exist what would I do… Oh my god, he going to nuke us! I got to get out of here. I put the plane in the air easily enough, I guess that year in the air force really did pay off.
An hour later… I am just about to leave Nevada, Whoo hoo. I did it, I am a second away when all the electricity is cut, and I lose control of the plane. My mind is racing what should I do? What happened? When I hit the ground and I pass out from pain.
I awoke wondering where I was and what had happened. I look around as memories suddenly flash back to mind I look up and it is no longer night. It was late afternoon by the looks of it. I got out of the rubble that was the remains of the plane. I looked around and saw a small town in the distance, u hoped I had gotten out of the quarantine zone, but when I got to town it was empty other than bodies, none of the electrical items worked, they must’ve used and EMP.

I looked around and saw I was out of the quarantine zone but, it seems they were too late. The virus had spread outside of Nevada. I had failed in my mission to stop it. But maybe if I could gather a group of people who are immune we could hide away in an underground bunker, yes that would work.

But, what if I couldn’t find anyone, what if it was only me. No that couldn’t be, the virus would have to be airborne and that couldn’t happen or could it? I looked around for supplies and found some gas, an old hunting rifle, food, water and some other supplies I used to make a pipe bomb. I got in my car with a full tank of gas and renewed hope in my mission to save humanity.

I kept on driving for days, only stopping for supplies and to rest, then finally I reached another city, this one was much bigger than the first 1 I had reached, but it to was empty, or so I thought. I searched and found a TV under a pile of rubble and junk I turned it on and it worked! Yes now I could figure out what was happening, I flipped to the news channel and it said that the entire north and south America were infected waste lands and that there were only small pockets of people fighting for survival. Then it said that Europe and parts of Asia were launching ships to the moon and even mars in a desperate attempt to escape the infected. I thought to myself if I’m not going to survive at least someone will when I heard some yell “drop your guns, put your hand on your head and lay down on the ground”. I did as I was told for fear of being shot.

Moments later I felt a sharp pain go threw the back of my head.

I awoke to the sight of being in a military hospital, they were examining infected all around me. I thought this was a horrible nightmare that I couldn’t awaken from when one of the doctors noticed me. She said “hi I’m Dr Kaitlin Blizzard, so, I’m wondering, are you healthy? Have you been bitten? And how did you come to be at this military base?”

I thought to myself this must be a softer way of interrogating someone. That’s when I noticed I was restrained. So I decided to answer her questions. “Yes I’m healthy (other than being hit in the head with back of a rifle), yes I have been bitten but I’m immune, and I got here by driving all the way up from a small town just outside the Nevada border” I answered willingly.

“Who are you?” she asks waiting for a response.

“I’m… who am I?” I thought to myself, I’ve been so preoccupied the last week I hadn’t bothered thinking to myself who am I, now I didn’t know.

She walks away allowing me to ponder my thoughts, when an alarm go off and she runs back into the room with a squad of guard who shoot all the infected patient. She quickly untied the leather straps trapping me to the bed, she asks me “do you know how to use this” holding up a rifle, I quickly nod remembering my training. Then an infected jumps on one of the guards back and brings him to the floor.


I suddenly realise what the alarm is for, the base is being overrun. She yells at me “quickly, we have to get out of here.” Kaitlin, the 2 guards and I head towards the exit as the other guard try’s to help her fellow officer, but her attempts are in vain because she is soon overrun.

We reached the exit only to see a group of soldiers being feasted upon by the infected heading backwards slowly when I knew inside me they had seen us and were waiting for the perfect moment to strike, I tossed 1 of my pipe bombs I’d concealed in my shoe and took them out, but it blasted a whole in the wall allowing more of the rampaging horde inside.

We started running to the helipad when I notice one of the guards with us had a limp, I aimed and seconds later the guard was one the ground and Kaitlin was yelling incoherently as the other guard aimed his gun at me. I said to them coldly “he was infected and there was nothing else I could do except shoots her.”

That’s when we all turned to notice rotating blades and the whirling of air that was a helicopter about to take off. Then before anyone could react the least expected thing happened, Kaitlin raised her gun and shoot the pilot, knocked his body out of the plane and yelled “get in before they reach us.” We ran to the helicopter and I got in the co-pilots seat as Andrew, Kaitlin’s best friend and personal guard jumped in the back. We were a few feet in the air when they reached us, they grabbed onto the railing under helicopter and Andrew who was very brave indeed started shoot them, but one of them grabbed onto his foot just as it was falling. He fell with it and we knew he was a goner, but he had saved us and we will remember him always.

When we got out of the area of the base we decided to head to the super secret bunker under area 52. When we got there it was completely empty, lucky for us it had been evacuated so it was unlikely there were any infected here. We went into the bunker and sent out a transmission for any survivors to come here for protection, food and a home.

That all happened 30 years ago today and I haven’t had a good night sleep since. The colonies on the moon and mars have been set up and are working, there a few survivors who live on the surface but most, live underground or underwater or even in the air. But now that my story is known I can finally Rest In Peace. *bang*.

SO are these all kinda part of the same "universe"?

This and a Soldiers life for me are the same universe but at different times and the other one, well... im not really sure, i never thought about it.
