Oh this is utter bullcrap!
I'm sorry but I hear this on so many forums and its just a load of crap. The number of games downloaded with torrents is way exaggerated and PC gaming is still doing fine. Besides, give it a year or two and there'll be the exact same problem with consoles.

No, it hasn't.
It has changed them, sure. But now there is a new kind of "social". Networking sites and online IM's, forums (like this one ), chat rooms and online games now see people interacting with people from a distance. Talking to someone on an IM may be completely different to talking to them face-to-face but it is still "social".Sure, some people have become more recluse with video games but now these same people who would often have been a recluse anyway can talk to people from the outside world. You cannot say that video games have destroyed people's social lives. I'm an avid gamer, I frequent at least five forums a day, two of which I administrate, and yet I still have a healthy social life.

Oh yeah i remember those paper-pen games, really i think people don't want to use their imaginations and instead want their video games to do it for them.
Although IMO i think those MMORPG's do just as good a job but they'll never replace good ol' pen and paper (because it just doesn't give you that warm fuzzy feeling) About the social thing - yeah i kinda think it's actually done better. Instead of a group of some college kids hanging out throwing 12 sided dice you now have an entire network of people from all over the world (INCLUDING GIRLS!) Just look at World of Warcraft - seriously I can't think of a more social online game and while it isn't as personal as being with someone - you can still communicate with them and do quests and shit together at your own leisure.

Counter-Strike 1.6 is the first thing that comes to mind.
Also, why are you only including shooters?
