Civil War Reenactment

Went to it today, had a good time. It was hot and humid.

I've never really understood those... Is it all scripted out or do the people just plan the basics and improvise the rest?

One of the most bloody wars ever. Which is not to suggest that any other war isn't bloody.

I heard they have great food at those things.

It started in the 1860's so there is no side to support, but if I was alive back then I would be for the north.

The north won. The Union vs the Confederates.

The Union under Abraham Lincoln opposed the spread of slavery and when they won the election in 1860 seven states in the South declared their secession. The Union considered this to be a rebellion and went to war.

It's one of the most boring wars in history.

Unless you take it by how they did it in that 300 spoof 1776.

Why did they just stand in a line and shoot at each other? Was it because they only had bulky slow muskets or was it polite?

Anyway, looked interesting - I remember going to a renactment of the first fleet (convicts coming to aus) on a school excursion and well - the word "bad acting" wouldn't do justice to the performance, it was worse than watching an episode of Home & Away >.<

"Alright chaps! Let's take a knee. Jolly good, the other side looks ready. We all set? Alright then."

"I say, are you fellows ready over there?"

"Most certainly. How about you chaps?"

"Been this way for at least five minutes now."

"Well then, ready. Aim. Fire!"

"Oh good shooting you boys!"

"Why thankyou, your fellows did exceptionally."

"Well then, ready for our next little tiff then?"
