Your plan for Zday?
In this thread we post out preperations and plans for the zombie apocolypse.
Personally, first place I would go is a cop station. Get guns, riot gear, and a gas mask. (People look more serious in gas masks) After that, I would search for as many survivors as I could to join me. After about a week of gathering weapons, supplies and survivors, we would travel (by day) from city to city, searching for more weapons, survivors and supplies. By night, people would take turns being on the lookout for zombies. Basically keep doing this until it's all over, and our party of survivors is huge. Now post yours. |

I'd just probably let myself get infected, just to see what it's like. Wouldn't be the first dumb thing I did out of curiosity.

^^ haha.
I would have to at first get some of the more unique weapons we have in the real world and give them a go. Things like Force a potato down a zombies neck. Or to tie one up. I would love to be able to capture one on its own and see what we could do with it. Also that got me thinking, in the ideas of zombies you dont get infected by there blood. Why is that? does anyone know? |

A little like the rage virus, this virus makes them hunger extremely for living human flesh. They can run, but a side effect from the virus is that they are dizzy, so it is like a drunk running. Another side effect is that there skin rots away, thus, they would naturally die sooner than a normal human. The only way to completely kill it is to damage the core of it's brain. And the infection can be passed to you via there blood or saliva. |

Well, in 24 Days Later (Haven't seen 24 weeks later) somebody got infected when a zombie's blood got into their eye and bloodstream. Now that I think about it, I think the whole infection through blood was a pretty large motive in the entire movie.

Getting blood on your clothes doesn't mean it enters your bloodstream. Same way as getting wine all over your favorite underpants won't make you any more drunk than you already were.

I dunno. >_> But that's an interesting fact, Ill make sure to stay away any AIDS infected people with a cough.
Still, it doesn't really make sense unless you swallow the blood. |

maybe it isnt transferrable via blood?
And back on topic. I'd drive to the next city, grab an ambulance pack if full of gear and survivors, go to the local gun shop, take all their guns and ammo. go to the army base in the next city [we have quite a few around here] take some army vehicles, and their gear. and start movin towards the air force base in the next city to fly somewhere where there are no zombies. |

Depends no the type of zed we're facing down, for me.
If they infect at a bite, or through blood, then I'm getting somewhere high up and safe and avoiding them like, well, a plauge. If you just have to DIE to become a zombie, then i'll be a bit more open to what I'll do, as it'll be harder to die than just get hurt. Then we have to consider the movement type of zombie we're facing down. Are we facing down runners? (zombies that run, and are very fast) then I will allude to my previous statement of get somewhere high, block off the routes up, and camp out until it's safe. Are we facing down the slow, shambling dead? (a la night of the living dead) If so, i'll group all survivors and supplies i can find, and make a small safe house. Preferrably somewhere armored with good primeter defenses. Finally, we have to take into account the zombie's habits. Are these zombies roamers? (i.e. stand/shuffle around until they find tasties) well, then i'll move carfully and avoid large groups to avoid mishap. Are these trackers? (once they get your scent, they follow you until they get you) Well, i'm going to kill everyone of them i run into, as the more i ignore, the larger the group hunting me down becomes. Are they the kind that have some form of empathetic link to their brethren? (i.e. when you see one, more are bound to show up for some unknown reason, coming for you) Well, then i wont stop moving until i get to a safe place (generally a good tactic overall, though) SO all in all, my plan changes as my enemy changes. If i fix my plan to rigidly, it may not work. |

Being on a roof can't save you from them. I also have a small theory that for reasons unknown the government agencies would be killing zombies and survivors. I wouldn't trust army or air force bases. |

Eerongal, I agree with you. We have to be fluent if we're going to survive Z-day, and analyze our enemies. I.e., if we have slow zombies, riot gear could be a good idea. On the other hand, if they are runners, that would be a huge disadvantage; more weight means you run slower.
The problem with barricading yourself in is that it's a mental strain; after all, you are basically imprisoning yourself. In addition to the mental strain, you will need a lot of food, and be able to keep the structure secure, both from the infected and other survivors that might not be keen to share the wealth. The point I'm trying to make here is that staying in one place too long might not be a good idea. One thing is for sure though, you will need weapons, appropriate clothing and hair, no matter where you're planning to go. To start with the latter, if you have long hair, you are giving the zombies something to grab onto, and it can obstruct your vision. And clothing will also work as something for them to grab onto, and might slow down your movement. As far as weapons go, a knife or handy axe is a must. It's just handy in general when it comes to survival. A projectile weapon is also an advantage; better to pick them off from a distance and not risking infection - though sound might an issue. Looting some pharmacies for medicine might also be a good idea, it's doesn't significantly increase your weight and can be used for trading or curing minor infections. Also, make sure you're getting sufficient nutrition and sleep, since this can also affect your mental state. It's important to be able to keep your head calm, so that you don't turn depressed, psychotic or suicidal. But I guess in the end, we'll just have to adapt to what's at hand. Though there are some things that can be applied to just about any survival-situation, it's pretty useless to start listing up the specifics for every imaginable scenario. (-: |

No. You can swallow infected blood (or infected semen if that is your thing) and your stomach acids kill it. It has to enter your bloodstream to infect you so, theoretically, you could drink Zombie blood and survive. Assuming you don't have gaping mouth sores or some shit like that.

Well, in that case there is no surprise that they don't get infected, other than of course, not killing off the main characters of a movie ten minutes into it.

You'd think the "Eww..." would come after zombie semen.
